take me back tuesday: bikinis, skorts, and denim

it's tuesday which means another tuesday that you get to stalk old photos of me.  i know.  you're excited.  i get it.  if you're not, just lie to me and pretend like you look forward to tuesdays at flash.

{would ya take a look at those muscles??  i mean seriously, i was lookin' something fierce!  okay, okay, you're right - i got nothing.  in case you're not sure, i'm the one of the right.  the girl.  in the bikini looking thing.  the little scrawny kid in the yellow trunks is my cousin.  we are the same age, but i beat him at everything.  i think my competitive-ness started right when i came out of my mother's pikachu.  oh, and this pic is from either 1st or 2nd grade.  we were at the pool.  obvi.}

{well, i am from texas, you know.  regardless, i'm still not sure why i wore this shit.  i seriously hope it was "go texan" day, and i wasn't just wearing this for fun.  (we have those here in texas - "go texan day".  a whole day dedicated to all thing texas.  really.  i'm as serious as a freaking heart attack.)  and yes, that skort looking thing does have a slit in the front.  this is also from 1st or 2nd grade.}

{this was from 4th grade.  i think.  i don't know if you've seen, but denim like this is back.  i keep seeing it in all those emails the marketing whores at banana republic and j.crew keep emailing me.  i keep trying to tell you people i don't follow trends, i set them.  hence, the denim i'm rocking from the 90s.}

I wish Maryland had "Go Marylander Day". I'd have to make a dress out of our hideous state flag for the occasion.

These are so cute! It's funny you mention Go Texan Day - I was home for a weekend in Maryland and the DJ's on DC101's morning show, Elliot in the Morning were discussing this day. I think because Elliot used to live there, or at least one of the DJs did. They didn't get "School Spirit" and someone was explaining this was bigger than that it was STATE SPIRIT! Which I think is awesome. I agree with Salt - I'd love a GO Marylander day!

Here in Alabama every damn weekend is GO ALABAMA day... if you don't represent your favorite college you get dirty looks - for true!

"Go Texan Day" - so funny! Yes, I totally participated in that too. You know, when you were wearing that denim shirt in 4th grade, I was wearing denim shirts as a high school senior. I remember I asked for one for Christmas - and my mom got me the off brand and I hated it. I absolutely had to take it back and get the Gap brand because it was the coolest.

I'm digging the pink shirt, its the skort I'm concerned about...
As you were young and prolly didn't dress yourself, you are excused. However if you wanna sport the denim top again I might have to vomit. Totes LUVRE the bikini thingy. Used to have one myself!

You know I saw the word bikini in my blog reader and flash Tuesday and got all hopeful the mutiny work, only to be disappointed in pre- "guns" photos. And here I was feeling all sad and hoping for a pick me up.

some of you were harping on me for not being dorky/awkward enough, so i knew the hot pink fringe shirt would get some comments.

monique, if you insist, i will let my self-adopted-god-daughter, haley, wear it.

Girl, that skort is insane! What's up with the slit?

When I was in third grade I had a jean shirt like that with matching jean white and blue striped shorts. It was Guess and very cool at the time. Especially with white and blue layered scrunch socks!

Awesome!! Love the skort!

Not quite sure I ever had a skort with a slit in the front. Super risque for go Texas day!! I have not seen the ads for denim coming back and am not so disappointed. I'll keep sending THOSE to spam. Thanks for the heads up!

The picture didn't work for me, but I visualized it from your words.

Good on you for teaching your cousin a thing or two about everything. Some say a competitive streak is a bad thing, I say those people are just losers.

You were WAY ahead of your time! I'm all over chambray shirts for spring!

Haha, I love that skort! I used to beg my mom to by them for me from Limited too. I also loved those denim shirts and vests--they are definitely coming back, for better or worse!

So I know I asked you if I could copy your take me back tuesdays and I know you said yes, but I came up with this brilliant idea. You should make me a button just like the one you have at the top of the post cept it should say sponsored by: (flash) pasteurized. Awesome? Yes! And then I'll link to you in my posts so you'll get all the cred. Let me know your thoughts...
