take me back tuesday: the hot pink fringe shirt is BACK!

boy have i got a take me back tuesday for you all today!!  because so many of you raved about how much you loved last week's hot pink, rhinestone-studded, fringe shirt, i brought it back.  that's right.  you're in luck.  and this time, folks, it wasn't even "go texan day" -- it was my 7th birthday party at a badass roller rink.  remember those??  all my friends thought i was so cool wearing my brand spankin' new roller blades winning all the races.  seriously, i was a lightening bolt on the 'blades.

as you can see, my smile resembles that of a jack-o-lantern.  but do i not smile?  do i embarrassingly attempt to hide my awful teeth?  no, i put them on display for all to see.  i apparently thought i looked goooood.  and as you can see from the photos, my smartass attitude problem clearly started early.  when my mom asks, "meredith, how'd you get to be like this?"  i point at her and then show her old pictures with my 'tude shining through.  "shoulda put a stop to it sooner, momma!"

LOVE IT! I miss the days of roller rink fun. "Couples skate only, couples skate only - all singles off the floor" Worst sentence EVER! Even when you think boys are gross!

I guess when I was about 22 or 23 my girlfriends and I went up to the last working skate rink in town for a night - it was SO fun. I highly recommend it to any group of girlfriends that wants a different night out. It's a bonus if there is a bar at such places. We were able to drink beer and act a fool and groove to fun music on the rink. (Much more fun than ice skating - I didn't bust my butt as often).

I love your Take Me Back Tuesdays - they make me remember so much!

Umm hello, I too was awesome at Skate Haven (the local skate join in my hometown) in the early '90s. I dominated red light green light on skates.

BUT I totally sucked at going to the bathroom with skates on. The floor was black ad white tile and I SWEAR they greased that thing down to make it impossible to get to the stall!

And you didn't like the fringe bikini?

I dunno, your friend with the red Terrier shirt is creeping up on the awesomeness of the pink fringe. Watch out!

My son shows all of his jack-o-lantern glory right now, too.

And I can now see the age difference between us. As a kid, I was on roller skates. Roller blades came along when I was pretty much too cool to skate.

I also had a skating party for my 7th birthday. It was awesome. And as for couples' skate? I'd always grab my BFF's hand and skate anyway. What, like I had a boyfriend at 7?

Also, I left you a little gift on my blog!

Oh girl...how i remember the roller-rink!!!
I would go there almost weekly...every weekend at that and do those night skates :)
You just had to own your own pair to be in the cool crowd. Hahaha. Skating backwards...forwards...weaving your feet in and out...you make me want to skate.

....FRINGE NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD....

You had WAY better clothes then I did when I was a kid.

Skate parties were my fave. We used to go to SkateLand (our rink here) and they would play Thriller and put on the funky disco lights and I would try to be all cool skating backwards (and would inevitably fall on my butt in front of some cute boy I liked). That was before roller blades were invented. Hi...I'm old.

i wish we could get away with wearing shirts like that now, just for fun.
also, while you were rollerblading your little heart out, i was ice skating- pretty close if i do say so myself. i had rollerblades, but all they were really good for was giving me cuts on my knees and hands...

Oh how I miss the roller rinks. I used to have the most kick ass white and pink skates and wore them with my bitty skirt. Hotness, I tell ya!

You are so sassy in those pics.

I used to rollerSKATE when I was a kid. Yeah, I'm old.

Love the fringe! I have a faint memory of me owning something quite similar... had a lot of be-dazzlers on it too.

My favourite? A pink ladybird jumper which was kind of quilted on the front. Niiiice!

courtney said...

Rollar rinks were the best...until creepy boys tried to get you to do couples skate. Awkward.

jayme said...

wow, you're smokin in that fringe! those were the days...

your teeth were way nicer than mine. I totally went down hill after 7. It was a long recovery from 17 onward.

omg you were such a cute 7 year old!! ;)

I don't think I ever went to a roller rink. I don't think they even had them in Australia. Maybe being Australian means I am deprived of certain things.

Looks like you were having the time of your life there though. Yeah, that's right, the pics actually work this week so I get to check out the outfit that had everyone talking last week.

Thanks for bringing it back.
