an (angry) open letter to "spring"

dear "spring,"

i put your name is "quotations" because you are no longer the spring i know and love.  you are a spring poser and i don't like it.  look spring, i don't know what the deal is.  you are i seriously used to bff.  you were all warm, sunny, with a light cool breeze all up in my face and i was looking all hot in my cute springy dresses, cardis, and wedge sandals.  to thank you for your generosity, i always spent as much time as is humanly possible soaking up your awesomeness.  i remember back in college, if i wasn't in class, i was either outside at soccer practice, studying on the lawn, or playing sand volleyball with friends.  we had a very symbiotic relationship, and it was good for a really long time.  but like all good things, they don't last forever.

this weekend, you really let me down.  like big time.  maybe you've forgotten what you did to my weekend; let me give you a visual reminder.  saturday a.m., instead of waking up to this:

{pretty flowers with blue skies and sunshine; and yes, i do expect a goat offering.}

i woke up to THIS:

{oh, and did i mention it was 34 degrees??!}

now how in the name of springtime goodness can you explain that?!  you could not have missed the mark further.  and for that, i am very disappointed in you.  and please spare me the excuses of el nino and "global warming;"  i hear that from al gore enough.  he's the guy who also invented the internet, remember??

please don't pull an apolo ohno and ignore my letter.  i don't like being ignored.  i hope we can resolve whatever rift you've created in our relationship because i have sundresses and new bikinis waiting to be worn.

waiting impatiently with love for 68-76 degree weather,
meredith

I know, right? I was thinking the same exact thing, girl. WHAT THE HELL, SPRING??

Lol. I agree. :(

I too thought the same thing! And I had a boat party on Lake Travis to attend this weekend! Needless to say, that was cancelled!

I was all on your side through the whole blog until I got to the part that you have bikinis to wear.

And now I am more mad at you that you still have a young, hot body that wears bikinis. My old lady body is so far from bikini wearing right now it isn't even funballs.

Move here. It's been 70 degrees for weeks now.

I was super excited for the first day of spring and outdoor family photos to be taken. Then I heard the weather forecast, then I got sick. So I missed it either way.

I was hating on Mother Nature for a while too. I think throat punches always do the job. You can never fully recover from one of those:)

if it makes you feel any better, I won't tell you about the amazing weather we had in Maryland;) Just kidding, I love ya!!!

Seriously. this weekend was a joke. It had to be. 25 mph winds and freezing cold weather. Disgusting!

I agree, this is just getting ridiculous. Mother Nature is laughing.

Completely agree. Stupid faux spring.

Somehow my little section of the east coast managed to get the weather that you are supposed to be having right now this past weekend. Now we are getting the rain. Thankfully there are no killer tornados involved.

I'm ready for 70+ degrees all the time though. The poor flowers outside my house are getting really confused.

That sucks, we actually had the perfect spring weather weekend, not to make you jeals :) Though right now it's back to being cold and rainy so I guess you win some you lose some.

God, I agree with you. Today is beautiful again, but the next two days are supposed to be cold rain / snow.

WTF?!? El Nino can suck it.

dear meredith

you say we have a symbiotic relationship but really it takes two to get along. where have you been these last few years? always running off from one political gathering to another in your car. Blocking out my friendly advances with your sunglasses.

do i see my shine reflected in your smile I THINK not. i feel a bit taken for granted with your promises of bikinis and all your expectations. i have needs too!

when is the last time you planted me a flower. okay i'll admit i got mad and tossed a storm your way, sorry but you got to accept your part in all this.

I know summer is your favorite, and I've tried to accept that but damnit i'm a season too.

Our weekend was like this too - it was supposed to be warm, sunny and oh so nice. I'm so glad that Friday afternoon M and I had a happy hour on the porch w/ the kids and then Saturday AM I could open the windows but Saturday PM got colllllld - and then yesterday was just down pour!

Now it's freezing out and a chance of snow flurries WTF?

I hope weather comes your way that is HAPPY ASAP!

I second, third, and fourth this letter. 8 inches of snow, the day before . . . 70 degrees. Not friends with you Spring.

Okay, not much time, just have to say, YES, Spring is a whore this year.
And omg, I just saw on TV that invisibility might be possible, I MUST GO.

I feel for you! My son and now daughter-in-law were married Saturday and we had 2" of snow! Here's wishing for some warmer weather...

I agree with you completely, seeing as spring was here in KC last week as well. Then we got 8 inches of snow over the weekend. WTH?!?!!?

I'm going with "it's only March 22nd and when this crap is going on in April, then I'll be really pissed...specifically if it's still going on during horse racing at Keeneland". Two years ago, it SNOWED in April. But we're pretty far north and so have no right to complain. You Texas girls, though, ought to be giving Mother Nature an earful. I'm so excited it's going to be 62 tomorrow, I could scream...except that I'm muffled by the wool sweater and scarf I'm wearing today. GRRR...

cape cod got your spring last weekend. sorries for that. but now i have rain. and no more spring for a while.
and i agree with money. a little bitter about the bikini thing.
hearts still though <3 even if you are all hot and bikini goddess like.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Oh, and about Apollo? You are better off without him. Did you see him on GMA a few weeks ago? I couldn't take my eyes off the MOLE growing out of the side of his neck. That, my friend, is a deal breaker.

Maybe I should write to him and let him know that he can get it removed. Then you would be okay to hook up with him again. Advise.

Oh my gosh I know exactly how you feel! It was raining/snowing earlier when I went outside :( I left you an award at my place today!!

Come to Seattle! Lol you are pretty cute girly, wishing you happy Spring weather!

Southern Belle Mama said...

Amen! Spring is pulling some nasty tricks on us this year...my least favorite is when you wake up and it's about 55 degrees (not bad for a spring morning), but then throughout the day it gets progressively colder. NOT COOL SPRING! Let's hope Spring get's its act together soon!

Cathy said...

You know, the crazy TX weather makes me happy. It's good to know it's not always 85 degrees there, like I thought.

Us northern fools always expect a big snowfall in March. It hasn't snowed here since Valentines day, so I'm guessing when it does come it's going to be nasty. Ah well....weather always gives us something to talk about, right!?

Barefoot in the Park said...

you need to be in NC ... it was beautiful this weekend@

Brittany said...

It is only the 2nd day of spring, technically lol. It'll be warm before you know it! I heard TX was having some pretty crazy weather though. You should have ventured to MD over the weekend. Sunshine and 70-75 degree weather 8-).. It's raining today though, boo.

I left something for you on my blog :-)

I hear ya. 62 degrees today in Florida. FLORIDA. Usually it's already in the 70s by this time. Mother nature is bipolar

If you get a response send her my way. i've got a beef too. She messed up my productivity mojo with her rain and grey and todayisagooddaytocurlupandwatchtv type self.

I think Summer is hanging around these parts a little longer than usual... therefore Winter is stuck up there in the Northern Hem until Summer decides to move on. Nerh!

ScoMan said...

Damn, I was totally going to say "Do what I do when unpredictable weather occurs.. blame Al Gore.".. but you kind of killed that buzz.

At least I had a good laugh about how clever I was going to be, but now you'll never know, because you told me not to mention it.

Amen! Testify! This is clearly a sensitive subject with your readers!

I was just thinking this morning what I could have done to spring to make her break up with me so violently...
