with summertime comes animals and bugs that suck my blood. and no, i am not talking about the cullens or salvatore brothers.

the little critters and animals in and around my neighborhood are starting to get to me.  seriously, i know how the actors in avatar must have felt because i'm pretty sure i live in pandora.  in the forest.  with lots of scary, teeth-baring animals that like to come out and play at night.

in addition to small rodents, i am also seriously hating things that crawl and/or fly.  with summertime (i.e. 100-plus degree temperatures and 110% humidity) now upon us, texas-sized, bloodsucking mosquitoes are out in full force.  i know you guys live all over the country and globe, and you too have your fair share of indigenous creepy crawlies, but i guarantee you, the mosquitoes i have recently seen flying around my home (and sometimes even into.my.freaking.house.) are seriously HUGE.  like the size of small birds.

and i feel like every time i go into or out of my house, at least one mosquito flies in and i can't find the little bloodsucker.  so when i wake up in the morning, i've been waking up with a new bite!!  i can't use raid or bug spray because it sends me into a coughing/asthma/throat attack, so instead  think i may need to invest in a mosquito net to ward off that one or two pesky needle-flying creature.

here's the thing, i HATE mosquitoes.  like really really hate them.  so i'm going to put a sign over my front door that goes something like this:

that'll keep 'em away, i just know it.  as for the little rodents and critters, i'll come up with something and get back to you.

You are just to sweet for your own good. Mosquitoes are more attracted to people who eat a lot of sweets, you going to have to cut back on those marshmallows.

i'm right there with ya hating mosquitoes, got my fair share of bites camping this weekend. yuck. though i hear you have them worse in the red states than in the blue states. coincidence? hehe

Let me know if your signage works. We can get all the help we can get down in Galveston County!

I HATE MOSQUITOS! You have no idea! If I go outside and even ONE lands on me, that's IT! My whole day is ruined! Plus, I run like a maniac back to the indoors while swatting at myself. It's not attractive.

LOVE your title, LOL.

I would let the cullens and salvators suck my blood too, but I HATE mosquitos!

I just hope that they are literate. That last one is certainly big enough to carry a dictionary around by itself. I almost threw up in my mouth.

I hope you stay safe with those terrors flying around!

It's the ones that buzz around your ears that get me over the top nuts!!!!! I can't take that sound!

So funny! Mosquitoes are horrifying creatures. But I will say that there are a couple things worse: today, while giving my 5th period final exam, a MOUSE RAN ACROSS THE ROOM! Everyone shrieked and jumped up on their chairs, and they we kept seeing him dart around the classroom . . . . GROSS!

Oh, the Cullens are welcome to suck my blood any day!! Mosquitoes, however, can go straight to you-know-where!! Pesky little boogers, grrrross!

More twin powers in the trifecta.

Mosquitos love my ass. Literally.

Mosquitos love me!! I hate them! Luckily I haven't had to deal with them in a long time for some reason! I heard that if you have a drier sheet in your pocket/purse they stay away from you. Not sure if it works but it's worth a try!

I call then ankle biters, it's just horrible how much they love me and then the burn that comes from their love is UNBEARABLE! I have found a new technique I call "scalding" where i take a washcloth with scalding hot water to the bite and it supposedly pulls out the itchyhistamine things, works fairly well. I haven't found anything to keep them out or from biting though.

Holy hell!!! No way. That nasty thing wouldn't survive a minute if it came anywhere within a mile of me.
Damon Salvatore can come suck my blood anytime. :)

Oh yeah, Damien could suck on me anytime!!

I hate bugs. Period. Any time. Especially ones that bite! That sign should really keep them away. Hope they start leaving you alone soon!

Yes...well...Georgia's bug issue has been getting to me, too. We just spent the whole weekend caulking, putting down boric acid and insecticide on the yard (just to have it all washed away in a ark-building flood today) in hopes that I will not have to stumble across another water bug while he's gone this month. And going outside for pure enjoyment? Yeah, that doesn't happen anymore. I did that all the time in KY. Not here! The ants and the mosquitoes would carry me away. I know people in the south are supposed to have garden parties, but I'm pretty sure that's when their gardens have been sprayed and fertilized to the point that nothing with wings and 6 legs will survive. I plan on staying indoors until December. Screw summer and its flying insects that suck blood and could give you Mad Cow...or whatever it is.

Ugh! I know exactly how you feel. It's like I'm a magnet for them. As soon as I walk out of my house, I've got 3 bites on me. It's so annoying and frustrating. Can you wear that little "OFF" clip on thing they have out now? I'm thinking of trying it.

Hahaha I love your signs. I might steal it...these Texas bugs are OUT OF CONTROL!!

I HATE MOSQUITOES. That's just the long, short, and wide of it. The just adore my sweet blood, sadly, and consequently they ruin my summer :-( I didn't go through and read all the above comments, so I don't know if anybody suggested yet that if you eat bananas that apparently makes you delightfully attractive to them. Conversely, garlic consumption is supposed to help ward them off (it will also deter the first two blood suckers in your signage though, so I guess you have to weigh your priorities) Ha! Hope you had a WONDERFUL Memorial Day weekend! What did you do?

pretty sure that sign will mean nothing to those little blood suckers.

mosquitos loooove me. and me? i don't loooove them either.

Ok, we have some crazy mosquitos here in MN, but WTF is that thing in your hand?? Is that a TX mosquito? If so, TX is def on my list of places NOT to live.

Several years ago when we lived in Alaska our family took a week-long trip "up north". The further north we traveled, the bigger and more numerous the mosquitoes got. At one point we had to stop for a potty break (5 kids), opened the van door, and then slammed it shut - everyone claiming they didn't have to go anymore. In that second and a half the van filled with mosquitoes and we spent the next hour smashing them on the windows. ICK. I HATE mosquitoes!!!!
Good luck Meredith :)

I HATE BUGS.

I don't mean to brag or anything, but they love me. I think they sense my hatred/loathing/fear and want to taunt me. Leggy bastards.

Good luck with the blood suckers. Slap a "hateful bitch" look on your face and scare those punks away!

That is not a mosquito and it does not suck blood it is a crane fly

Despite their common names, as adults, crane flies do not prey on mosquitoes, nor do they bite humans. Some larval crane flies are predatory and may eat mosquito larvae.Adult crane flies feed on nectar or they do not feed at all; once they become adults, most crane fly species exist as adults only to mate and die

My dear girl, and people, and girls. Ladies. That IS NOT A MOSQUITO. CANNOT BITE YOU OR SUCK BLOOD, THAT IS CALLED A CRANE FLY. ALL THE BIG ONES WITH REALLY LONG LEGS, ARE HARMLESS AND ARE CRANE FLIES. You can kill em, but you can be a little more calm, they cannot suck your blood or bite ya
